A Meditation

When the Son of Man

comes in His glory,

and all the angels with Him,

He will sit upon His

glorious throne,

and all the nations

will be assembled before Him.

NEWS FLASH

Reports have just been received that the criminal, Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified on Friday, last, has been seen alive. The report has thrown the city into complete confusion, as he often did during his lifetime.

Some say that his followers have stolen the body and buried it elsewhere and the guards on his tomb have admitted to being asleep for a least some of the night hours.

Even among his followers there is consternation because they first heard it from some women folk who went to the tomb in the early morning to find it empty. They recall that he said on several occasions, while he was alive, that he would rise from the dead. Since this is totally beyond their experience, they have no way of knowing if it is true.

It had been their hope that he would be the one who would free Israel from the Romans and for that reason they admired him as a hero.

Others saw him as a vagrant preacher with little else to do, while the chief priests saw him as an enormous threat to the established religion. They really resented it when he threw the moneychangers out of the Temple, and when he made scurrilous remarks about them and claimed that prostitutes and even tax collectors would get to heaven before them. The last straw came when he claimed to be the Son of God.

As for his followers, they are regarded as a bunch of ne'er-do-wells and with their leader gone, put to death by his own people, they are in disarray.

Despite all that, his many achievements during his lifetime give some basis for the astounding claims now being made in his name. We hope to keep you updated on this extraordinary story. Stay tuned.

P.S. Easter 2005 - Do you know people for whom it is still merely a rumor? As always, begin with yourself.
